  2. Is St. Patrick’s Day your lucky day? On Tuesday, March 17th between your class periods, take time to guess how many Lucky Charm marshmallows are in the jar!!  You can only guess once.  Winner will get a free Double Scoop Ice Cream at the Cat Shack.
  3. Culture and Service in Thailand through EF Tours: High School students are invited to travel to Thailand and learn about Thai culture while making a difference in the world.  Highlights of this tour include volunteering at an elephant sanctuary, visiting historical sights, and developing leadership skills.  To learn more, come to the Student Success Center at the Academy of the Redwoods on Tuesday, March 24th at 5:30 p.m.  For more information or to RSVP contact Rachael Riggs at 707-845-8832.
  4. It is time for this year’s Redwood Writing Contest! The theme for this year’s contest is “The Power of Voice and Making a Difference.”  Writers can enter one submission into each of the three categories (Poetry, Informational/Argument, and Narrative)  All submissions must be in MS Word or Google Doc format to upload.  Upload your submissions to rwp.humboldt.edu and click on the Writing Contest Link on the homepage and then select the appropriate submissions category and grade level.  All entries due by April 1st.  If you need more information see Kristy.
  5. North Coast Youth Summit will be on Saturday, March 21st from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at College of the Redwoods for youth in grades 7th through 12th. There will be over 30 youth oriented workshops to attend and 2 keynote speakers. The cost is $20.20 if you pre register and $30.00 the day of the summit.  You can register at ucanr.edu/2020nys.  If you have any questions call 707-445-7351.

  7. McKinleyville Parks and Recreation is excited to off the 16th Annuall Humboldt Hoops Youth 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. The tournament will be March 27th & 28th in McKinleyville.  It is open to boys and girls in 3rd through 12th  Divisions are by grade and gender.  It’s time to start putting your teams of 3 to 5 players together!  Registration is now open.  Download forms online at www.mckinleyvillecsd.com.  Register online at rec.mckinleyvillecsd.com.  Registration fee is $140 per team and you need to be signed up by March 20th.  If you have any questions call McKinleyville Parks and Recreation at 707-839-9003.

  9. Yearbooks are for sale for pre-order. They are $55.  The price will go up to $65 after Spring Break so order now!!  Chiles’ ordered a limited amount this year because so many have been left over in the past few years so get yours now.  Also, if anyone wants a yearbook from last year, see Mr. Chiles.
