“Dear Week:  I am so over you.  I’m leaving you for your friend Weekend.”

Happy belated birthday to Kevin Martinez (yesterday), tomorrow to Rex Rolff and Sunday to Seth Regli!!


  1. The ASB is selling Valenine’s Day Orange CRUSH Bottles for $3 each. Come to the office and order yours today!!  Crushes will be delivered on Valentine’s Day.
  2. Any Junior boy or girl that would like to apply for Girls/Boys State please get an application from Ms. Banke. This is a nationwide program where students spend the week in a leadership program designed to increase awareness and knowledge of governmental processes while making lifelong friends from around California.  Girls State is located in Los Angelesand Boys State will be in Sacramento both at the end of June.  Applications are due February 15th.
  3. Pasta will be having a bake sale today during the boys basketball games. If you can bring a baked good it would be greatly appreciated.  This is a fund raiser to raise money for Safe and Sober Graduation.  Please bring your baked goods directly to the game on Friday night.
  4. There will be a blood drive here next Wednesday, February 6th 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Sign ups are in the office.  You must be 16 years old to donate blood.  All students who are 16 years old and wish to donate blood will need to get a parental consent form from the office.  17 years and older do not need a consent form.  If you have any questions, see Bryleigh Busick.
  5. Seniors: Humboldt Area Foundation will be here February 7th during your financial management class.  He purpose of this visit will be to get you started on scholarships.  Any questions please see Ms. Banke or Mrs. Becker.
  6. Semi formal will be Saturday, February 9th from 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. at the Red Barn at the Fairgrounds. You can buy tickets from Kyersten Borges.  Pre-sale tickets are with ASB Card – single $10.00 couple $15.00.  without ASB Card – single $15.00 couple $20.00.  At the door prices will be single – $20.00 couples $25.00.  Any questions, ask Kyersten.
  7. Seniors: Numerous DAR Scholarships are available in the scholarship box:  Students majoring in Science, Math, English, History, Occupational Therapy, or Medical professionals.  Also, there are two Native American Scholarships.  If you have any questions about any of this year’s scholarships, you can call Tina at the elementary school at 786-5300. Also:

*Coast Central Credit Union Scholarship – $5,000 for four years.  Must attend HSU, Shasta or Chico State and need to at least have a C average.  Deadline is March 14th.

*Humboldt County Junior Livestock Scholarship – you must have sold an animal at least 3 times at the Humboldt County Fair – due April 1st

*Redwood Choast Chapter-CA Deer Assn. – To a student seeking a career in AG, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, Vet. Science or Wildlife Law Enforcement. Must have at least a 3.0 CPA – Due April 5th

                             *Mark E. Reed Scholarship-$3000, at least a 3.0 GPA. Due

                               February 28th

                             *Sons & Daughters of Italy Scholarship – due March 1st

                             *Italian Language study grant – if you are planning on studying the

                               Italian langue – due March 1st.
