  1. Leo club meeting today @ lunch.  There will not be a lunch provided so bring your own!!
  2. Help support Autism Awareness!! This week, Mrs. Giacone would like our students to wear jeans all week and bring in at least $1 each to support “Team Naylor” and Autism Awareness. Today is the last day to bring your donation towards autism. Whichever class/period earns the most money for Team Naylor by this Thursday, will earn a free day on Friday.  This is not a mandatory donation, however if you are looking to have a free day in one of your classes, turn in your money there!!  If you cannot bring money, please show your support by wearing jeans!!  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Giacone.
  3. The Coast Guard will be on campus today if anyone would be interested in talking to them please sign up in the office.
  4. New scholarship! Humboldt County Office of Education Decade of Difference Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 or $1,000 for a 2 year school.  Go to http://www.humboldt.k12.ca.us and follow to the Decade of Difference.
  5. 3 more new scholarships!! California Deer Association scholarship to someone entering Ag, Forestry, Wildlife or Fisheries, or Law Enforcement.  Due May 1stHumboldt Builder’s Exchange to a student continuing in the construction field.  Due April 1st. Orlen Christensen Memorial Scholarship to a student going to a 4 year college and majoring in Ag.  Due April 30th.
  6. Prom will be May 9th at the Fortuna River Lodge from 9pm – midnight.  The theme this year is “A Night in the Country.”  See Emma Gomes to purchase your tickets.  Special pricing this year, “Early Bird Special” is $40 for a couple and $20 for a single until April 9th.  Then tickets will be $50 a couple and $25 a single.  Get your tickets early!!
  7. Save the date: Natural Resource Career Day will be tomorrow from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.  It will take place at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds at the Turf Club. Explore careers in Geology, Timber Management, Lumber Production, Trucking, Mechanic, Equipment Operator, Natural Resources, Clerical, Surveyor, Wildlife Management and Forestry Technician. Pre registration is required.  Any questions please ask Mrs. Noga.
  8. Teen Court Volunteer Training will be held on Thursday, March 26th from 4 – 6 pm at the Teen center in Eureka (3015 J. St, corner of J and Harris Streets).  Teen court is a real court administered by teens for teens who have chosen to have their cases heard by their peers.  Student volunteers between 8-12th grade serve in the courtroom as jurors, attorneys and other positions.  Earn community service hours, develop your leadership skills and learn about the justice system while making a positive difference in someone’s life! Leader-In-Training Program – Enrollment opens Monday, April 6th : Become a Leader-In-Training, gain real life work experience and leadership skills, all while having fun in the sun!  Leaders-In-Training work with 4 – 14 year old campers, helping to plan and lead summer camp activities, field trips and more.  Choose from our 12 different summer camps, the dates you’d like to work and you’re on your way to a summer of fun!  L.I.T. experience counts towards community service and also looks great on college applications.  Fees: $10 per week/$11 non-resident or take advantage of our special offer.  Enroll for five or more weeks for only $50/$55 non-resident.  Space is limited so register early and pre-registration is required.  Registration opens Monday, April 6th and you can register online at www.cityofarcata.org/rec or contact Arcata Recreation Division at 822-7091 for more details.
